It seems we need a brief technical note regarding user names and Display Names.
It appears that when you register, you will need to pick a user name using romaji. This is the name that you will use to sign in with. After you register, you can change your Display Name to whatever you want it to be, and you can use kana and kanji. It is your Display Name, not your user name, which will appear to others on this forum.
